The role
Performs substantive screening of all pro se petitions and motions, including prisoner petitions, state habeas petitions, immigration habeas petitions, motions to vacate, and civil rights complaints.
Drafts comprehensive recommendations and orders for the Court's signature; assists in preparing opinions through targeted legal research.
Maintains effective liaison between the Court and litigants, guiding pro se litigants through procedures and ensuring clear communication.
Reviews the docket of pending prisoner litigation to ensure proper progress and flags cases requiring Court action.
Compiles statistics and prepares periodic reports reflecting the status and flow of cases.
Performs other duties as assigned; requires a strong work ethic and excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills.
