The role
The Staff Attorney will litigate to secure healthcare access and vital economic supports for clients facing denial of benefits. Responsibilities include representing clients in state and federal courts and in administrative proceedings before the Social Security Administration, Department of Economic Security, and Office of Hearings and Appeals. The Attorney will conduct comprehensive legal research and writing, draft pleadings, and participate in discovery, motions, and trial practice as needed. The role emphasizes zealous advocacy, strategic impact litigation, and community outreach to inform and empower the client community. The position requires admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction and a commitment to public interest law; bilingual ability is a plus. The unit collaborates with a team of attorneys and support staff to provide high-quality legal services and ensure access to critical benefits.
