An AI Engineer at Pivotal in Manchester owns the data sources and structures feeding an AI platform for mortgage processing. They build and maintain data ingestion pipelines, assess and onboard new data sources, and manage knowledge organisation structures. The engineer also develops evaluation tools to measure answer accuracy, establishes data governance processes, and maintains comprehensive documentation and training for team members. Troubleshooting data issues and ensuring continuous improvement of AI answers form key responsibilities. The role requires technical skills in Python, SQL, APIs, and pipeline orchestration, along with hands-on experience with language models and retrieval augmentation. Success is measured by improved AI answers, growth in data coverage, and increased platform usage by advisers.
