The senior cloud engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving cloud-hosted application workloads primarily on AWS, ensuring operational excellence and security. They lead cloud initiatives from conception to deployment, supporting global applications and supporting microservices environments. Expertise in SRE practices, monitoring, and incident management is essential for enhancing system resilience and reliability. They ensure compliance with security, governance, and architectural standards, collaborating closely with security and architecture teams. Supporting developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and platform standards, they help optimise deployment efficiency and standardisation. The role demands a blend of technical skills, leadership, and behavioural qualities such as ownership, communication, and problem-solving.
