The Lead DBA is responsible for the architecture, operations, and strategic direction of database platforms, ensuring environments are secure, scalable, and performant. The role involves designing highly available database infrastructure, planning for growth, and evaluating emerging technologies to improve efficiency. It requires managing resource utilisation, implementing replication, clustering, disaster recovery, and applying patches and upgrades. The incumbent will monitor database health, optimise schema design, support migrations, and automate routine operations. Collaboration with engineering teams is essential for maintaining data integrity, troubleshooting, and driving continuous improvement through automation and best practices. Leadership of the DBA team and defining operational standards are key aspects of this strategic and hands-on role.
