Lead the sports desk covering high school and college athletics in central Illinois, with focus on timely, engaging coverage.
Assign and edit local and regional sports stories; coordinate with photographers to secure strong visuals.
Drive print and digital coverage, write columns and trend pieces, and optimize content using SEO best practices.
Manage relationships across teams and leagues within the network; monitor performance metrics to guide strategy.
Oversee scheduling and multi-site coverage when needed; demonstrate strong planning, organization, and leadership.
Requires 5+ years of management experience, degree in journalism or related field, and proven editing, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
