De functie
The University of Toronto's Department of History seeks an Assistant Professor specialising in South Asian history for a full-time, tenure-track position beginning July 2027. Candidates should possess a PhD in History or a closely related field, with a strong research record and teaching experience in South Asian history. The role encompasses research, including archival work and innovative methodologies, as well as teaching undergraduate courses covering early modern and modern periods. Fluency in at least one South Asian language, especially Persian or Urdu, is required, while a record of peer-reviewed publications is highly desirable. Responsibilities also include developing a competitive research program and contributing to departmental teaching and service duties. The salary range is CAD 120,000 to CAD 160,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
