Machine Learning Systems Engineer, Research Tools

Seeking an experienced Machine Learning Systems Engineer to join the Encodings and Tokenization team. This cross-functional role designs, develops, and maintains tokenization systems used across Pretraining and Finetuning workflows. You will optimize encoding techniques to improve training efficiency and model performance, collaborate with research teams to understand evolving data representation needs, and build infrastructure that enables researchers to experiment with novel tokenization approaches. You will implement monitoring, debugging, and testing frameworks to validate tokenization across languages and data types, identify bottlenecks in data pipelines, and document technical decisions for stakeholders. The role requires strong software engineering and ML expertise, proficiency in Python, and the ability to navigate evolving research contexts while delivering impact.
