The role
An Electrician - Construction and Maintenance plans, assembles, installs, repairs, inspects, tests, verifies, and maintains electrical systems in residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial environments. They measure, cut, bend, assemble, and install conduits, electrical enclosures, and supports, working with systems such as heating, lighting, power, communication, control, and renewable energy. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, diagnosing faults, splicing conductors, and testing electrical equipment to ensure proper functioning. The role requires adherence to regulations set by the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, with opportunities to obtain certification and become a registered journeyperson. The trade is part of the Interprovincial Red Seal Program, ensuring national standards. Candidates must be members of the Ontario College of Trades during their apprenticeship and upon certification.
