The role
The Construction Estimator for Heavy Construction prepares accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for large-scale civil and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities include detailed quantity takeoffs, labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost assessments, and coordination with suppliers.
Interpret plans and specifications, review geotechnical reports, and collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field staff on means and methods.
Develop cost breakdowns, work scopes, bid schedules, and preliminary phasing for public and private sector bids; participate in pre-bid and site visits.
Maintain unit cost databases, monitor pricing trends, and identify risks, opportunities, and constructability improvements to strengthen bids.
Assist in budgets for negotiated work and support value engineering and bid debriefings throughout the tender process.
