The role
A procurement specialist is responsible for managing the purchasing and sourcing of electronic components, production materials, and equipment to support manufacturing operations. The role involves sourcing obsolete, long-lead-time, and difficult-to-find components, obtaining quotations, negotiating terms, and managing supplier relationships. The candidate will support BOM sourcing, prototypes, and New Product Introduction, while developing supply-chain resilience through alternative suppliers. Technical skills required include understanding of component manufacturers, obsolescence, lead times, and the electronics supply chain. The role requires a proactive approach, supplier negotiation skills, and the ability to keep production moving seamlessly.
