The role
A Lead Database Administrator is responsible for the strategic direction and management of database platforms, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. The role involves designing scalable infrastructure, integrating emerging technologies, and maintaining compliance with security standards. The Lead DBA collaborates with engineering teams to optimise database schemas, automate routine tasks, and support deployments and migrations. They also mentor junior staff and drive continuous improvement in database operations. Technical expertise in relational and non-relational databases, Linux administration, scripting, and CI/CD is essential. The role requires leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and experience with cloud or hybrid database environments.
