The role
The Legal Counsel role provides legal services across transactional, regulatory, and corporate functions supporting business initiatives at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. It involves drafting and negotiating complex agreements related to technology and commercial activities, including SaaS, licensing, IT infrastructure, and services agreements. The position requires legal review of communication and counsel on compliance with health data privacy laws such as HIPAA, as well as emerging regulations concerning artificial intelligence. Candidates must have a juris doctor degree, be licensed in Massachusetts, and possess 3-5 years of relevant legal experience in technology or corporate law. They should demonstrate strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, collaborative attitude. Familiarity with laws related to AI and data protection, a passion for technology, and experience liaising with outside counsel are advantageous.
