The role
The role involves managing complaints related to local audit work, ensuring responses are compliant and evidence-based, engaging with complainants, internal teams, and regulators. It oversees the process of local elector objections to audited accounts, assessing legal and technical merits, and producing detailed decisions. The position acts as a key contact for whistleblowing disclosures, handling investigations confidentially and following relevant policies and standards. It responds to issues raised by electors and others, determining follow-up actions within statutory deadlines and liaising with audit teams. The role also includes developing internal policies, supporting training, and representing the organisation externally in formal settings. Candidates should be qualified accountants with local government or public sector audit experience, possessing strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
