The role
A highway and infrastructure engineer is responsible for producing infrastructure designs and master planning using knowledge of relevant legislation and standards. They undertake drainage and highway design in accordance with design codes and best practises, employing tools such as Autodesk Civils 3d, Infraworks, and MicroDrainage to develop detailed infrastructure solutions. Good communication and management skills, along with a civil engineering degree and professional qualifications like CEng or IEng, are essential. This role involves influencing development projects through technical expertise and statutory compliance, contributing to the built environment. The position requires familiarity with legislation such as the Highways Act 1980, Water Industry Act 2004, and Land Drainage Act, ensuring designs meet statutory and industry standards.
