The role
The role involves managing insurance defence files, including property, casualty, and accident benefits disputes from start to finish. The successful candidate will draft legal opinions, pleadings, affidavits, and support applications, mediations, and hearings. Key responsibilities include conducting examinations under oath, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, along with providing strategic advice to control indemnity costs. Candidates should possess strong organisation, communication, and negotiation skills, with a background in insurance litigation and legal research. Experience with ADR processes, LAT hearings, and trial experience is preferred, along with proficiency in legal and office technologies.
