The role
A senior backend developer with expertise in Python is required for a remote contract position in Bristol, focusing on building scalable, data-driven applications within a collaborative team environment. The role involves designing and developing backend services, creating RESTful APIs, and supporting large-scale data pipelines with databases such as Neo4j and PostgreSQL. Candidates should have strong experience with FastAPI, microservice architecture, and containerisation using Docker and Kubernetes. Skills in CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native development, and code quality are essential, alongside the ability to troubleshoot and participate in architectural decisions. The position demands excellent communication skills and experience working within Agile teams, with additional desirables including familiarity with Azure, Kafka, and geospatial data. The contract is initially set to extend to December 2026 and offers an opportunity to work with modern technologies on technically challenging projects.
