The role
A global hedge fund based in Cardiff is seeking a Python Engineer to enhance its front-office technology team, collaborating directly with Portfolio Managers, Quants, and Analysts to develop tools that support investment activities. The role involves designing, building, and maintaining Python applications for trading, research, and portfolio management, along with developing analytics and visualisation tools tailored to investment needs. The engineer will optimise data pipelines processing large-scale financial datasets and automate workflows to increase operational efficiency. Close interaction with investment professionals will be essential to deliver innovative, business-critical solutions that influence decision-making and trading results. Candidates should possess a strong background in Python development within data-intensive environments, excellent system design skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience in financial trading systems or large data pipeline management is advantageous, alongside knowledge of cloud technologies and financial instruments.
