The role
A Principal Maritime Civil Engineer in Newcastle is responsible for developing engineering design solutions for maritime civil structures in ports and shipyards, utilising materials like steel, concrete, and timber according to relevant codes. The role involves participating in all project stages, including inception, design, construction, and decommissioning, ensuring technical and commercial effectiveness. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver designs, conduct inspections, produce reports, and review calculations and drawings. Providing guidance to junior staff and acting as project or technical manager on diverse projects are key responsibilities. They must demonstrate skills in analysis, concept development, communication, and client engagement, often supporting business development activities.
