The role
A SQL Database Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing Microsoft SQL Server environments, including performance tuning, backups, and disaster recovery. They troubleshoot complex database issues, support incident and problem management, and collaborate with technical teams to improve system reliability. The role requires experience with database upgrades, migrations, high availability solutions, and scripting automation, often involving Windows Server and PowerShell skills. Candidates should hold a relevant degree and have 3 to 5 years of practical experience managing production SQL Server systems. Knowledge of cloud services such as Azure SQL is advantageous, along with relevant certifications, to ensure compliance and optimal database performance across the enterprise.
