The role
The role of a Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry involves conducting assessments for patients referred to the team, collaborating in developing risk management plans, and participating in multidisciplinary working within a community mental health team. The post requires a minimum of four years postgraduate training, with at least two years in a psychiatry training programme or equivalent experience. The successful candidate will be involved in mental health assessments, treatment planning, and may be asked to undertake Mental Health Act assessments subject to Section 12(2) approval, working alongside a multidisciplinary team including nurses, psychologists, and physical health practitioners. The role offers induction programmes, mentorship opportunities, and participation in peer-group meetings and training courses such as MRCPsych, fostering professional development.
