The role
A Principal Cloud Engineer provides technical leadership in cloud infrastructure, owning the infrastructure portfolio and establishing standards. They develop and implement medium to long term cloud strategies, ensuring resilience, scalability, visibility, and transportability of services through infrastructure code. They oversee the development of solutions aligned with best practices and performance standards, managing cloud platform environments such as Azure or GCP, and using tools like Terraform, GIT, Ansible, and Puppet. The role involves collaborating across teams, maintaining a technology roadmap, and leading on enhancements while adhering to safety and safeguarding policies. It requires a proven track record in cloud or DevOps engineering, strong technical skills, and the ability to work remotely with occasional face-to-face meetings in Preston.
