The role
A Trainee Reporter is responsible for creating engaging digital news content, covering breaking stories, conducting interviews, taking photographs, and filming footage within the Nottingham area. They will develop contacts, source stories from local communities, and adapt their storytelling to diverse audiences. Candidates should have a journalism qualification, strong writing skills, knowledge of UK media law, and social media proficiency. Flexibility for shift work, including weekends and evenings, is essential to cover a variety of news events. The role requires enthusiasm, local knowledge, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Technical skills in recording and editing footage are also beneficial.
