The role
Performs substantive screening of prisoner petitions and motions, including state and immigration habeas petitions, as well as civil rights and other pro se actions.
Drafts recommended findings and orders for the Court and conducts targeted legal research to aid in opinion drafting.
Maintains liaison between the Court and litigants, monitors the pro se docket, and flags cases requiring court action.
Compiles case statistics and prepares periodic reports to reflect the status and flow of pro se litigation.
Requires a Juris Doctor, active bar membership, and at least one year of post-J.D. legal experience, with strong writing, research, and organizational skills.
Salary is commensurate with experience; position located in San Antonio, with funding anticipated through at least 2028.
