The role
An AI / Machine Learning Engineer at the University of Derby will lead a project to develop a scalable AI system for housing data analysis, improving maintenance, reducing costs, and aiding decarbonisation. The role involves managing the full project lifecycle, sourcing and integrating data, building and validating models, and creating visualisation tools to translate data into insights for stakeholders. Candidates must have a Master's in Data Science, AI, Computer Science, or relevant experience, with strong Python and SQL skills, and familiarity with machine learning workflows and visualisation tools. Experience in data engineering and a genuine interest in sustainability are desirable. The position is part-funded by the UK Government’s KTP programme, offering training and career development budgets. The role may qualify for sponsorship under specific UK visa criteria, with eligibility assessed at shortlisting.
