The role
The Electrician Apprentice supports Journeyman and Master Electricians in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment used in mining operations.
This role provides hands-on, on-the-job training in an industrial mining environment to develop skills for advancement in the electrical trade.
Responsibilities include assisting with installation, maintenance, and repair of motors, conveyors, crushers, pumps, lighting, and power distribution, and reading electrical schematics and manuals.
Under direct supervision, perform basic tasks such as conduit installation, wire pulling, terminations, and component replacement; use electrical meters for testing and inspections.
Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and MSHA, NEC, and site safety regulations; participate in safety meetings, training, and apprenticeship coursework; keep a clean, organized work area.
Requirements include enrollment in an electrical apprenticeship (or equivalent on-the-job training); ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces; MSHA certification or willingness to obtain.
