The role
The Head of Communications leads the organisation’s communications strategy, ensuring alignment with political priorities and values. They develop and implement media plans, securing positive coverage across various outlets, and act as a senior media adviser to leadership and elected representatives. The role involves managing media relations, building relationships with journalists and broadcasters, and overseeing the digital communication platforms including social media and websites. The incumbent is responsible for managing the communications team, setting priorities, and supporting their professional development. They also organise media events and monitor the media landscape for emerging issues, opportunities, and risks. The position requires a highly strategic, creative individual with strong media skills and digital expertise to effectively promote policies and campaigns.
