The role
Provide interpreting services to facilitate communication in classroom and instructional settings for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students.
Interpret spoken English into sign language and vice versa, using ASL or other sign systems, with attention to technical vocabulary.
Work on-site at the Northridge campus on an intermittent, on-call basis, with assignments varying in speed, complexity, and group size.
Support high-level discussions and fast-paced material in conferences, workshops, and lectures, rapidly switching between sign and spoken language.
Must hold applicable certifications (RID, NAD, BEI) and have relevant interpreting experience; experience in higher education is preferred.
This is a temporary-renewable, on-site role with flexible hours; background checks and campus safety requirements may apply.
