A senior MySQL database administrator is responsible for designing, building, implementing, managing, and maintaining MySQL databases in a Linux environment. The role involves implementing and overseeing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, monitoring database performance, and solving issues related to optimisation. Collaboration with development teams to optimise schemas, queries, and indexes is essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in MySQL and experience with other database systems like PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL, along with knowledge of high availability solutions. Skills in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation are advantageous.
