The role
A Home Office Lawyer in Manchester provides legal advice on immigration, security, and public safety matters, supporting the objectives of government departments. The role involves drafting legal advice to ministers, guiding legislative development, and participating in litigation processes, often on complex issues with political and media implications. Candidates should have strong knowledge of public law, excellent legal judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-Whitehall teams. The position requires qualified solicitors, barristers, or legal executives, with relevant experience and a minimum of a 2.1 degree or equivalent academic achievement. Duties include legal drafting, policy support, and legal risk assessment, with an emphasis on strategic, creative thinking and fast-paced advisory skills. Security clearance and BPSS vetting are mandatory prerequisites for employment.
