The role
A Trainee Reporter works within a news team producing engaging digital local content, covering breaking news and creating exclusive stories for the community. Responsibilities include sourcing contacts, conducting interviews, taking photographs and filming footage during field reports, with a focus on delivering scoops and diverse perspectives. The role involves working shifts including evenings and weekends, requiring flexibility and strong organisational skills. Candidates should have relevant journalism qualifications, excellent writing and storytelling skills, and a good understanding of UK media law. Experience with social media and driving licence are advantageous for this position, which aims to develop talented journalists in a regional setting.
