The role
A Climate Risk Data Scientist is responsible for validating climate and financial models, assessing methodologies, and documenting model risks in a systematic manner. They produce validation reports and assist in maintaining model risk governance and compliance with regulations. The role demands strong analytical skills, proficiency in Python, and a background in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science. Candidates should have experience in validating complex models within financial or risk environments and be familiar with climate scenarios and net-zero strategies. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, alongside knowledge of model risk frameworks like SS1/23. This position is based in Edinburgh with a hybrid working arrangement and is contracted for three months within the IR35 regulation.
