The role
A compliance officer is responsible for developing and implementing compliance programmes, overseeing export and import processes, and ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations. They support audits, classify commodities, and create policies to meet legislative standards. Additionally, they identify compliance risks, educate staff on compliance matters, and monitor internal practices through audits and ongoing monitoring. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex regulations. Knowledge of UK/EU export laws, ITAR/EAR regulations, and experience with export licensing are essential. Effective communication and team collaboration skills are vital for success in this position.
