The role
Open Rank Faculty Position in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, with appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor (without tenure), tenured Associate Professor, or tenured Professor level, starting July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will address a broad range of operations research and management science topics, with emphasis on the foundations of optimization and probability and their intersections with machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science. We particularly welcome candidates whose methodological work complements application-driven research in areas such as healthcare, energy, public sector OR, sustainability, networks, transportation, supply chains, service platforms, and finance. Primary responsibilities include developing a strong independent research program, delivering high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contributing to the department's educational mission. The position encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-disciplinary research across campus, with opportunities to engage with a range of institutes and schools across the university. Tenure considerations vary by rank, with non-tenured appointments expected to show potential for pioneering research and effective teaching, and tenured appointments requiring a proven record of outstanding research, teaching excellence, and leadership in the field. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) by the start date in related fields and demonstrate potential for impactful scholarship and educational contributions.
