The role
The Oracle/SQL Database Administrator manages and maintains database systems within a secure environment, focusing on performance, stability, and security. The role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimising Oracle and SQL Server databases while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities are supported. The responsibilities include performing regular backups, restores, patches, and upgrades, along with incident management and root cause analysis. Candidates are expected to possess strong DBA experience, performance tuning skills, and knowledge of HA/DR technologies such as Data Guard, RAC, or AlwaysOn. Experience with ITIL or managed services is preferred, with a focus on security and compliance in a highly regulated setting. Technical skills should include database management, performance optimisation, and disaster recovery techniques.
