The role
A First Contact Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses, and supports patients with musculoskeletal conditions at their initial contact point, reducing GP workload and ensuring rapid access to expert care. The role involves providing advice on pain management, mobility, recovery, and facilitating onward referrals or investigations such as X-rays or blood tests. Candidates are expected to be qualified physiotherapists with a BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy, possessing at least five years' post qualification experience and advanced MSK training aligned with national standards. They work autonomously, making complex clinical decisions and supporting a range of long-term and complex conditions. The position is located in Leeds on a permanent basis, offering 28 hours per week within a multidisciplinary team. Technical skills include MSK assessment, investigation requests, clinical decision-making, and experience with community-based health services.
