The role
Develop story ideas, gather information, conduct interviews, and prepare compelling stories for air.
Collaborate with the desk, take direction, and stay current on local, national, and international news.
Operate audio control boards and manage recording and playback to support on-air delivery.
Demonstrate strong on-air presence, clear diction, and versatile writing under tight deadlines.
Work on-site in Chicago with shifts including overnights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications include radio news experience, strong writing, interview skills, calm under pressure, teamwork, and a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism or related field; five years’ experience preferred.
