The role
Design, implement, and empirically validate approaches to measuring and managing catastrophic risk from frontier AI systems.
Identify new risk pathways and conceive metrics to quantify pre-mitigation and post-mitigation risk.
Forecast and perform scenario planning for future risks that are not yet material.
Combine conceptual research with engineering, primarily in Python, and adapt to compute and researcher time constraints.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to translate research insights into practical mitigations and tools.
Expect to contribute to both research and engineering, with a focus on impactful work that informs production systems over time.
