The role
A senior mechanical engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing and validating railway maintenance and infrastructure equipment used across UK rail networks. The role involves working within a collaborative environment, supporting product lifecycle from concept to validation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Candidates should possess strong mechanical design principles, experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, and proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks. The position offers hybrid working with travel between UK locations and the opportunity to specialise in safety-critical rail infrastructure projects. Technical skills in finite element analysis, chassis design, and electrical systems such as PLC-controlled equipment are advantageous.
