The role

Provide protection engineering support for capital projects across transmission and distribution assets from 12 kV to 765 kV.
Develop, review, and validate protective relay settings and coordination for GE, ABB, and SEL relays; perform short-circuit studies.
Lead system studies and design step distance and pilot protection schemes for 44–100 kV lines, ensuring WECC/NERC/IEEE/IEC/ANSI compliance.
Utilize CAPE, CYME, ASPEN and relay databases; interpret one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring standards; operate UR Setup and AcSELerator.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and QA of protection deliverables; support field technicians in servicing and commissioning relay configurations.
Travel to field as needed; support substation automation, protection upgrades, and coordination with neighboring utilities.
