The role
A position for a Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry is available at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham. The role involves evaluating new referrals from GPs and other referrers, including transfers from Home Treatment teams and internal team transfers, to establish diagnoses and formulate management strategies. The post requires working within a multi-disciplinary team comprising doctors, nurses, psychologists, and physical health practitioners to deliver comprehensive mental healthcare. Candidates should have a minimum of four years postgraduate training, with two years in psychiatry or equivalent experience, and be eligible for Section 12(2) approval for mental health assessments. The role includes participation in local and trust induction programmes, mentorship schemes, peer-group meetings, and optional MRCPsych courses. The trust serves a diverse population, offering a supportive environment focused on community mental health and professional development.
