The role
This 6-month Chemical Engineering Co-Op in Bedford, MA focuses on developing novel polymeric membranes for separation applications.
Responsibilities include lab-scale formulation of polymer solutions for membrane casting and hand-cast immersion precipitation membrane fabrication.
You will characterize membranes using FTIR, retention, breakthrough pressure (BP), SEM, and related techniques, and participate in pilot-scale membrane development on the immersion cast pilot line.
The role provides exposure to transport phenomena, thermodynamics, and reaction engineering as you learn to think rationally and conduct systematic research.
Ideal candidates are currently enrolled students with hands-on lab experience, discipline, and a passion to learn; 40 hours/week, M-F (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), starting mid-May/June through August/September.
Compensation ranges from $20-$32 per hour, depending on graduation year and skillset.
