The role
A senior electrical design engineer is responsible for leading electrical building services projects from concept to completion, including designing LV power, lighting, fire alarm, and emergency systems. They prepare calculations, technical reports, and specifications while ensuring project compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The role involves coordination with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams, as well as reviewing submissions and providing site support. Project management of deliverables, budgets, and scheduling is key, alongside mentoring junior staff and pursuing energy-efficient solutions. The position requires a degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering with proven design experience and proficiency in design software. Candidates should possess strong communication, leadership, and technical skills in BS 7671 and industry standards.
