The role
A mental health physiotherapist is responsible for working with adults and older adults with severe mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and dementia, providing specialised physiotherapy and activity therapy. They assess physical health conditions including musculoskeletal issues, obesity, and chronic pain, within a multidisciplinary team environment. The role involves delivering physical interventions, participating in exercise programmes, and supporting clients with complex communication needs and co-morbidities. Skills required include patient assessment, communication, and teamwork, along with knowledge of mental health needs and physical therapies. The post offers support for career development and mandatory training, with travel throughout Fife required. The ideal candidate has a desire to work with mental health clients and is committed to promoting physical and mental wellbeing.
