The role
A senior database administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining MySQL databases within a Linux environment. The role involves overseeing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, along with monitoring database performance and resolving issues to optimise efficiency. The candidate will collaborate with development teams to design database schemas, queries, and indexes to ensure high performance and scalability. Strong experience with MySQL and familiarity with other systems like PostgreSQL or Oracle are required, alongside knowledge of high availability solutions such as clustering and replication. Scripting skills in languages like Python or Bash for automation are advantageous. The position offers a flexible working environment with opportunities for remote work and a quarterly bonus scheme.
