The role
Plans, directs, and oversees the kennel operation of the shelter to ensure humane handling and a safe, sanitary facility.
Supervises Animal Care Attendants and volunteers, provides training, evaluates performance, and fosters a compassionate, humane approach to animal care.
Sets goals, monitors productivity, develops policies, and coordinates with other divisions and external partners for animal pathways, transport, and foster programs.
Oversees disease prevention, basic health screening, quarantine procedures, and collaborates with the Shelter Veterinarian on medical protocols.
Balances euthanasia decisions with adoption, transfer, or rescue options, and schedules spay/neuter or specialty procedures as required.
Manages supplies, records, public inquiries, and coordination of events; participates in management meetings and maintains accurate case files.
