The role
The Network Engineer is responsible for daily configuration tasks, fault management, and change procedures on the ISP network, working closely with a team of network architects and infrastructure engineers. They manage BGP peering, MPLS, VLANs, and IP transit, maintaining accurate network records using NetBox IPAM and NMS. The role involves supporting circuit provisioning, carrier handoffs, and network migrations, acting as an escalation point for complex faults. The engineer participates in on-call rotations to ensure network stability and leverages AI tools to enhance diagnostics and automations. Key skills include working knowledge of BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, fault diagnosis, and change management in a carrier environment. Certifications like CCNA or CCNP are desirable, alongside experience in ISP or carrier networks.
