The role
Interpret, compound, and dispense medications and other pharmaceutical supplies for inpatients according to physician orders, using standard procedures.
Enter drug orders into the computer profile and verify orders for completeness, interactions, and incompatibilities; consult prescribers when discrepancies arise.
Dispense medications to inpatients following policy, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
Compound intravenous admixtures and parenteral mixtures, maintaining accuracy and sterility.
Maintain records for controlled substances and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; initiate and maintain computer-generated labels.
Manage medication orders, supplies, and inventory while supporting patient safety and formulary compliance.
