The role
Advises the Director on the interpretation and application of U.S. immigration law and related statutes, executive orders, directives, regulations, and court decisions.
Develops and refines agency-wide policies and procedures in response to legal developments impacting program operations.
Provides technical assistance to ensure consistency of decisions issued by Immigration Judges through robust procedural guidance.
Coordinates confidential immigration law matters affecting the administration and resources of the agency.
Supports national-level legal policy on complex and unique questions of law involving immigration and related issues.
Drafts clarifying guidance and analysis on legislation, regulations, contracts, orders, and other legal instruments.
