The role
A Higher Assistant Psychologist provides support to qualified psychologists by delivering assessments and interventions in inpatient mental health settings within the NHS. The role involves working in multidisciplinary teams, supporting formulation processes, and participating in research and service development activities. Candidates are expected to have strong communication skills, experience with mental health issues, and proficiency in research methodologies and computer use, including data analysis software. The post requires a degree in psychology with eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, alongside relevant work experience. The successful candidate will work under supervision, demonstrate empathy, and contribute to patient care and team training initiatives. This role is based at Hopewood Park in Sunderland, with responsibilities spanning two inpatient services and close collaboration with clinical psychologists.
